My Last Day of Summer

Aug 11, 2008 14:07

Lots of people have been asking me when I go back to school. They're surprised to hear that I'm going back tomorrow. I'm sort of surprised too. See, McHenry wants to start school sooner so that our first semester ends at winter break. I'm down. Then, we also begin the summer on Memorial Day. Sounds good. So really, I don't have that big of a problem with starting early, though it (and the late HPHS school year) did job my summer of a whole month.

Like I said earlier, though, I'm pretty excited about the thought of starting a new job and a new school year. This summer has gone by fast and it's felt...well, packed full, to be honest. I'm ready for the school year, I think (I think I think)...

So what does one do on his last day of summer, you ask? Well, it's sort of a long story...

Emily and I have been having some issues with our rings. See, we bought each other titanium wedding rings, specially etched with lyrics from songs that are special to us. Halfway though the honeymoon, though, we realized that they're just a smidgen too big...and that, if we kept wearing them, they'd fall of in the shower or while we slept. We like(d) this store we bought our rings from because they could exchange them for rings that are our size. Except we jumped through all those hoops a few weeks ago and, this weekend, found that the rings we sent to exchange were returned to sender because the rings were never "claimed," whatever that means.

I told you it's a long story...

So I've been calling and e-mailing this place, but they're not getting in touch, not picking up their phone, and so one, and so on, which is making me a little frustrated. I'm not sure if this place suddenly went out of business or what. And, of course you know, titanium is not resizable. So here I am, married for a month, and I've barely even worn my ring.

This weekend, Emily and I have been running around a little looking for new rings to wear...ones that match, you know, because they're symbols of our marriage and all. But it's not easy. We've gone to a few jewelry stores now and spent (ugh...) hours picking though rows of rings. I think we're getting close to finding something...

I guess this is sort of a boring summary of what's been happening on my last day of summer, isn't it? Well, I'll be honest, I'm planning laying around with the pug. Also, I got an oil change.
