I'M HERE!

This is my first post in my new/first apartment in Denver, CO! So exciting.

I'm not going to lie, when I got to the hotel Tuesday morning I broke down and cried. I had a moment where I was asking myself what the hell I was doing moving so far from home and my friends and family. I was even missing my parents!

But the moment passed, I think it was just my mind/body/soul's way of purging something that I had to get out if I wanted to move on properly.

I spent the rest of the night in Kansas City, MO watching a bit of tv and trying (unsuccessfully) to get some sleep. Then I showered, changed, hopped in the Jeep and drove 9 more hours.

Most of the 19 hour (damn, crazy when I type that) drive was uneventful, thankfully. I only had to turn around once...no, twice. Once when I'd gone the wrong way, and again when I almost, ALMOST ran out of gas! I was spazzing out. Grace, I thought of you and your trek back from New York. So note to anyone traveling through Kansas: when you're on half a tank of gas FILL UP AT THE NEAREST GAS STATION! The next one might be a ways off.

I highly recommend that everyone take a road trip at least once in their lives; the scenery is simply gorgeous. Gently rolling hills gilded in moonlight, half-glimpsed flowing rivers, still waves of earth as far as the eye could see. I wish I could have seen it in the day.

So after I got here I checked out the apartment, it wasn't quite what I expected, but it wasn't a nightmare either. This morning I woke up and I love it. I guess I just need to give it my own special touch and add a few peices of home to make it feel like a sancturary.

Don't know if I told you all or not, but before I moved here I was/am talking to a guy named Tony. I'm SO glad that we had a chance to meet and go out yesterday! For a minute I was seriously considering calling my parents and telling them I wanted to go home. Damn, talking and planning something like this and telling yourself you'll be fine is one thing, but actually doing it and putting yourself in the situation is quite another.

So last night Tony and I went out to eat and walked downtown to a bookstore. We also encountered a fight in the bus! The topic of discussion: GAYS! At first I thought that the two women were just playing around, but then it turned serious and one chick threw herself at the other with flailing fists. It was like a scene Charlie Huston would write.

I'm glad that I have free internet here, it will make keeping in touch with everyone easier. Not that I couldn't go to the library. Hope everyone is doing well, and be sure to send me prayers and good vibes.

I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL!

Peace. Out.
