Boofaces! Come out to Ships in the Night on Thursday September 17 and benefit Mangos With Chili!
Ships is a rad queer/trans dance party that benefits queer and trans causes, mostly QTPOC, that are under the radar of mainstream funding. This month Ships is a benefit for Mangos With Chili's Southern Tour! Your five bucks will help us rent our van and pay for motels from Texas to DC as we take seven fierce QTPOC artists on the road.
No one turned away for lack of funds, for real! Cheap drinks, good music and hot queers!
Last year our Queer Borderlands tour was saved during Recession Year One by your generous community lovin' . This year you can shake your ass and do the same thing!

Ships In The Night is a queer dance party that happens once a month, every third thursday, and functions both as a benefit and a community organizer. Each party raises money for a different organization, campaign, movement or indvidual(s) that we know to be in need. We also consider the party to be an organizing tool; not only to get queer folks together to dance and have a good time but to also spread awareness about the struggles our community faces and help unite positive energy and transform that energy into activism.
Mangos With Chili is a fierce Bay Area-based arts organization showcasing high quality work by queer and trans artists of color. Founded in 2006 by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha and Ms Cherry Galette, Mangos With Chili has performed to sold out houses across North America, wowing audiences in world class theaters, underground performance spaces and queer bars with our high intensity performance reflecting the lives and stories of queer and trans people of color. We make art that speaks out in resistance to the daily struggles around silence, isolation, homophobia, and violence that QTPOC face.
This Ships in the Night is a benefit for Splendor and Grit, Mangos With Chili's 2009 Southern Tour! Mangos will travel from Texas to New Orleans to Atlanta to DC. For more information, check out mangoswithchili.wordpress.com or email mangos.with.chili@gmail.com
