When I was about 10 or 12 my camp counselor told me about how one way Navy SEALS are tested is to bind their hands and feet and have them tread water. About 30 minutes later I attempted the same rigorous training. This time I used some straps that I ironically removed from a life-jacket. It wasn't hard at all, but my counselor felt the need to jump into the pool and "save" me, so as to avoid any "paperwork".
