The members of HMS Andromeda have from the beginning described their lush signature sound as being "like a battleship pushing its way through the galaxies" and their tracks reflect an international diversity seldom seen even in the indie arena. Despite their first few albums gaining little interest in their hometown of Gary, Indiana, better publicity via the internet has made Am Blues vorus (2007) a hit among a wide range of ages and nationalities.
From the Appalachian-utopia feel of "Eden Township" to the medieval ballad "Lord Drummond" and Eastern European inspired folksongs "Lipica" and "Vorbeck," HMS Andromeda touches many corners of the globe. Angsty electronica track "Teshiogawa-Onsen Station" has secured the band a devoted teenage following in many Asian countries, and "Bazlama" and "Teh Botol" are topping the charts in Indonesia and India, but it is their heartrending anti-war cry "Gunroar" that has gained them the most notoriety, the chorus of which rings all too true today.
Each Gunroar means another lover won’t be back
Sweet shell of life crushed, vision goes black
Hit the sand, boys, lie low or fall stilled
Doomed to live by Kill or Be Killed.
