there is already an obscenely large xmas tree standing tall in south coast plaza. hallmark stores are playing christmas jingles and businesses are one-upping each other on selections of green and red decorations for homes. santa waved at me from a his perch in the window of a store yesterday, and its still october. irritation that people are turning a cozy, cookie-eating, cocoa-sipping holiday into a my-lawn-elf-can-beat-up-your-reindeer frenzied competition replaced what -one month later- would have been a warm fuzzy feeling. what fun there is in anticipation of december will be sucked dry before xmas gets close, and any sane person can only hear "white christmas" so many times in snowless, mostly sunny november before tossing all holiday cds out the window and avoiding malls altogether.
and forget christmas shopping...i have easter eggs to buy.
