working dogs: herding cattle

Some very nice work here. My best guess is this is a Kelpie, related to Australian Cattle dogs. Again, as with a number of working dogs, the performance is or rated than the breeding, and this is most prevalent in herding and mushing (lurchers are another example - cross bred greyhounds).

Notice that where sheep respond to simple physical pressure (and the famous crouching “eye” of the border collie), cattle need a lot more physical encouragement. You see how fast the Kelpie darts in to nip at the cows’ heels and charging at them more.
