Seems to be all about exposure these days...Papal update
TSA Roundup
- A very pertinent point: @mharrisperry says: Continue to be fascinated by process where stopping, groping, frisking black youth= law & order, but to middle class travelers=violation. Dammit. I should have spotted that long ago.
- Edit: Calitics picks up on this point: However, we're starting to see a backlash to the backlash, as liberals line up to defend the security state. By doing so, they not only defend what are truly indefensible practices by the TSA - they also are reinforcing decades of similar practices routinely conducted by local law enforcement against people of color.
- On getting back INTO the country. Interestingly, it appears that people are being required to go through the Scan Or Grope routine upon return to the country, never mind having cleared customs and screening at the start of the trip, and not having blown up the plane in between. My TSA Encounter. Fortunately while time consuming, this particular person got back into this country with no scan and no grope.
- Along the lines of unintended consequences: Analyst: TSA methods 'will kill more Americans on highway'
- Glenn Greenwald has the most interesting rundown on the political climate behind this personal privacy grab. And it's not particularly hopeful. RTWT: Government yells "Terrorism" to justify TSA procedures.
- Digby also points out the logical flaw in such a high concentration of "security" measures at airports: Security Theater.
