Memorial Weekend
We drove to Indianapolis Friday afternoon which took way longer than expected because of construction and traffic. We pretty much did nothing that night except lay around while my parents went out to some dinner function. Saturday was my birthday and we went down to the parade. It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of famous faces as expected, such as Morgan Freeman, Jim (the guy from The Passion who played God), Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, Adam Mesh (Average Joe), Jesse and Jessica (the Bachelor and the girl he picked) and a lot of others. All the drivers for the Indy 500 the next day were in it as well. It was a really cool parade even though I got sunburned.
That night I was supposed to hang out with Nicole, Nick and Tim but at the last minute my dad said I could go with him and my mom to a dinner function. The people at the function were triple my age it seemed like but they were nice and all. Plus I got awesome chocolate cake and sung Happy Birthday. It was a good birthday dinner.
Sunday was race day. It was delayed 2 hours because of the rain. They raced 24 laps and it was delayed another 2 hours because of rain. They finally got the race going and Buddy Rice (Honda) won it under a yellow flag because of rain yet once again. The rain turned out to have a mix of 4 tornadoes in it as well. I did get to go in the garage area and see some of the racers and their cars before the tornadoes got too close. We ended up in the catering kitchens because they were brick. It was scary but it turned out all good.
Monday was a long drive home. I read a book the entire way and that was about it. We got home about 3 and I fell asleep pretty much until this morning. It was a do nothing day.
Last Thursday Billy and I celebrated my birthday. He is the best! We went and saw Shrek 2 which turned out to be really cute. It was a great night! I look forward to when we go see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban this Thursday night. YAY!
Countdown until schools out and I leave for Europe: 9 days!
