Can I simply start by saying that I love, love, love having Jose Reyes back? Those quick feet, the heads-up base running, the way he fidgets and dances and makes even the most steady and hardened opposing defence man overthrow routine balls and make other mistakes. It's refreshing. It's what makes him one of the best in the business.
Sweeeeeep! Yes, yesterday's game was shortened by rain, but a 'cheap' win is better than no win. I'm glad to see that they completed a sweep before getting swept this season. And yes, the media's going to find every which way to say that the Mets didn't win so much as the Braves lost, what with the rain making room for errors and such, but you know what, Pelf's 0.69 ERA can't be explained away by 'it was raining.' In fact, it makes it more remarkable because he was not sharp last night. His defence however, that can explain it very well considering he loaded the bases at one point. I know that it's only 19 games in, but to know that one of my starters has the League-leading ERA, even for a little while, brings a smile to my face.
Tommy Hanson was masterful, I'm not going to even lie. The rain seemed to cause him no problems and the difference in the game all goes back to that pesky Jose Reyes.
The thing that's going to suck though is that I realised last night that Ike Davis has no chance of winning Rookie of the Year, no matter how well he does. With all of the buzz, glitz, and glory surrounding Jason Heyward (and seriously, the kid's good, so he deserves it), the writers are going to be looking at him more than anyone else. They'll be waiting to pounce on every good thing he does, every clutch play. Not to mention that Hanson deserved to win RotY last year and didn't win. So where does that Ike and the other rookies? With a much steeper hill to climb and less chance of climbing out of J-Hey's shadow. It's almost enough to make me want them to send him down once Murph's back so that he can make his full Rookie début next year and have a fair shot. But he's the fresh-faced shot of youth that a crew of veterans slightly downtrodden by the constant questions and trash talk surrounding them need...
Day Thirteen prompts for a song that is a guilty pleasure. I think it started sometime around the whole Justin Timberlake-Brittney Spears break up that this started. I actually would listen to 'Cry Me a River' on the radio. Still wasn't a fan of his music, but I loved the public flaying of the loathsome pop princess. But even that got old. 'Rock Your Body' had he big Superbowl Scandal of 2004 and a nice beat, so it's OK sometimes, but the song that really got me and I'd be sooooo not likely to admit it in most other situations, is 'Sexy Back' is a totally guilty pleasure. And now that I'm watching the video to post here, I was unaware of the cool Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe of the video.

By the way ladies,
today is Boobquake! Y'see, some time ago, an Irani religious leader made the comment that the immodest attire of women not only leads young men astray from the chastity and virtues, but is the responsible, at least in part, for the recent increase in seismic activity. A blogger jokingly suggested that ladies wear the most Breast bearing, short-shorts immodest thing that they are comfortable with to test the theory and see if the earth shifts or something like that. I can't participate sadly, because I work in a middle school and they stress modesty of attire. I don't want to get fired, even in the name of science. I figured I would at least acknowledge that fellow ladies would be bearing the goods to see what happens. Have fun if you're participating! ^.~
