benn runnig around like crazy hre the past week, with the weather changing, my body seems to be driving me crazy to get ready for winter early this year.
With the nighttime temps falling and even the leaves are changing.
I talked with the guy at the garage and he told me my truck will be done and ready friday.
I can tell you it sucks to be without a vehicle.
Ive had to bum rides when I could from a nice neighbor, but I havnt been able to do much shipping or picking up what we needed here.
I finally got a burr up my rump and put in the gates in the chicken pen/orchard, for some reason I worked on em till 1 in the morning hammering and cutting, so im glad we dont have any neighbors close by :P
And now I have a hen whos trying to brood (That means she is sitting on some eggs to try and hatch them out) and she growls at me whenever I go in the coop, which is funny cause ill just reach down and pet her.
but each day she has a few more hens that get in with her and lay more eggs, kinda like dropping off the kids for someone else to raise cause she will talk to the egg and then slide it under her like she laid it.
but the roosters wont leave her alone, even in there so I ma making a seperate brooder so she can be left in peace and noone will bother her as its so hard to get a good brooder, so I want to keep her this way. and I will also be putting wire all along the sides and part of the roof so no mice or snakes can get in there either.
The new spot will be about 6'x8' with a pitched roof high enough to walk under easily for me as im just 5'6" tall :P
Its actually going together quite quickly, I just had to stop as I ran out of preassure treated 2x4s and ill have to pick em up when I get my truck back.
Ill have to take some pics of it as it goes along. I have to take what I have done so far down so I can put hardware cloth on the ground, then put the posts back up, then the walls, so Ill snap a few pics tomarrow morning and post em in my photobucket thingy, even a pic of the hen :)
