Productive because: taught spellcheck "mansplain"

Aug 25, 2011 21:04

Holy shit, you guys, I have just been mansplained to in the most annoying fashion. He begins with "I was reading your review on Old Man's War and thought I would respond to the things you didn't understand," and then proceeds at such length that I had to page down twice to get to the bottom. He generously explains to me that "If you look at the world of today, only industrialized nations have the funds and resources for space exploration. Most of those nations are of white, European origins," and furthermore, "People in third world countries tend to have bigger families due to the number of them that die young due to disease and other hardships."

The rest of his message is just a retread of the book's facile logic/excuses, including telling me "Many of the things you felt were out of place after reading the book were explained [...] in this book and others in sequels." (Which I have read. And reviewed on the same site.)

Ignore, link to Urban Dictionary's entry for "mansplain", or let him have it with both barrels?

In other aggravating news, I either have a new histamine reaction, or bedbugs. I'm really not sure which one I should be hoping for.
