I hate "ficcer" as the analogue to "vidder." It sounds a bit too much like fucker, and just plain rubs me the wrong way. In the future, when you speak of me as a fic writer, I wish to be spoken of as a fictress.

NO no no. Replace the hard C with a soft C sound and you'll see why that will never work.

Does one ever use that pronunciation of "c" before a "t" in English? Or any other consonant, for that matter? I didn't think one did.

Well, no, not to my knowledge. But English takes from so many other languages that I'd hardly be surprised to discover at least one exception.

The main thing, for me, is that if you're just quickly reading through and you skim over it, it's fairly easy for your eyes to read it as an S rather than a C.
