Riches from the internet!

Do girls read comics? asks one poster limpidly on the newsarama forums.

About two thirds of the responses treat this as a somewhat less than serious question but the other third seem to feel it is a question that needs to be meaningfully dealt with.
# I've tried to get my mum, my sister and my niece into them, but they just dont get it.
It's the female mind. It overheats easily.
# When will women learn that if they read comics, their hottness factor doubles. If I see a girl reading a comic, 9/10 I'm instantly attracted to her.
He lists his myspace in his profile, so those of us who came all over heterosexual upon reading his comment can contact him there.
# Women tend to hang out where they feel welcome. If your local store is a pit, they're going to shop elsewhere.

Same thing goes for the forums you frequent. Are women referred to as'girls' all the time there? Are there constant comments about female character's bodies, and how good this character or that looks in a little skirt? Is there frequent sexism? Lots of negative comments about the posters' wives and girlfriends?
included for the nice way it segues into:
# Most people today don't care. Most women I know still refer to themselves as girls, have girls night out, refer to movies they like as chick flicks. We don't need 30 year old feminist garbage, we've moved beyond it. People are people.

The reason there are comments about women at these forums or girl characters, is because most of the readers are not girls. But if someone starts talking abut males or male characters, we won't flip out. Heck, it happens with gay readers talking about male characters. No one cares.
Shit, what was I thinking? Good point, comic dude! I'll just replace girl-wonder with lady-boy porn, shall I?

Then a thread pops up asking how does supergirl shave?, is she bald?

Well, not generally in her title appearances, but...
# does supergirl Shave her private area the same way superman does? i mean with heat vision and a mirror?

that could be an interesting image.. someone should draw it.
Oh... Oh, I get it! You mean her... *ahem.* Interesting! I didn't know that Superman 'shaved' his private areas. Does anyone want to direct me to the appropriate porn?

Another commenter points out that all speculation is meaningless in the absence of observational data:
# We'll never know until that darn skirt stops obscuring the view.
While another seeks clarification.# Into the shape of the "S" shield?
I LOLed.
# So I'm guessing this thread was started in an attempt to answer the question posed by that thread about girls not liking comics, correct?
Dude, harsh! But don't worry, other commenters point out that the above commenter merely lacks a sense of humour.
#although the fact that she's sixteen makes this thread all that more disturbing...of course it makes her whole costume/book pretty disturbing too....
Sixteen is post puberty. I don't understand what's so disturbing. If there's grass on the field, play ball.

But I thought there wasn't grass on the infield. Isn't that the whole... nevermind.

Anyway, so then the OP comes back with: # anyone not offended by this thread should probaly join here.. with New Improved Power girl boobs Forum.....
Which is certainly targeted advertising. The forum he links to is kind of awesome, featuring thread after thread on what porn star's boobs can really be said to adequately convey the magnificence that is Peege's chest. And if you've ever wanted to see someone who I somehow kind of don't think is an actual fan cosplay Phantom Lady in what may actually be a skimpier costume than canon, nose around on those forums.
