Delicious.

I also tend to see the spirit of such sentiments more than the letter, and the negativity doesn't come across to me as distracting.

But I believe that it actually is. I like your analysis here and I love that you've brought to my attention yet another way that I can strive to be clean and pure in my communication.

I want to write everyone lists now.

For you:

~I love that you drive a practical, funny looking car made out of cheese in which we were able to fall in love with each other's bodies. Your car is one of your tools, and well-chosen for your life.
~I love that you live in a neighborhood chosen as a way of facilitating closeness with one you love, and have created even more community and love around you in that place.
~I love the clarity and generosity with which you see people, and the patience you bring to interactions which allows you to connect with a huge variety of people.
~I love that you favor texture and comfort in clothes, yet pay attention to looking nice and snappy. I love that you wear lightling's pants and futuristic caftans and shoes without laces.
~I love your gallivants, visits, explorations, spleen benders and jaunts. I love that you so clearly prioritize visiting people you love in your travels.
~I do love your bones and skin and organs and breath and movement and expression. Your body is a user interface that I really enjoy, elegant and beautiful and useful and potent. As is mine.
~I do love the way your parents raised you. They didn't open a trust fund for you, that I know of, but they made choices and value judgments and taught you lessons that have contributed to your development as the Paul I know and love. I'm grateful to them for this.
~I do love that you're chosen by some marvelous, smart people to be a part of their lives. I love the friends lists you're on, the invitations you receive, and so forth, because they signify the regard in which people hold you and the connections you've made. And I enjoy that you share these people and these connections with me.

Gee! That was fun!

Ooh, cute peekture! Some day I'll have to mine your files for beauties. Perhaps we can do that together.

Resonance indeed. I'd love to poetize the thing too, but just had time for off-the-cuff.

I love you.

I felt the very mentioning of the things not cared about gave them more importance than things we don't care about should ever be afforded. Whenever anyone tells me they are not thinking about or doing something - instead of what they are thinking about or doing...I have to wonder if they truly aren't thinking about what they've said they aren't...

Phhhwww...That was a mouthful.

So if I were to tell you that I didn't like you because of the car you drive, the clothes you wear, the place you live...aren't I thinking a lot about these things and in the act of doing so - placing a lot of importance on them in both conscious and subconscious levels?

And, then, I agree with browascension on the other points.

I also think that this little poem came from a very loving place, so in that sense - there is nothing wrong with it.
