Today I received my first Covid vaccination. The queue was long. The weather cold. The organiser of the queue told me that they do similar work in Wormwood Scrubs. Quite a few elderly people were freezing including me...although I was a mere youngster at 65. The patient behind me talked a bit but I couldnt understand him...partly the effect of the mask. The lady behind him must have been over 70..no gloves but reminded me of women in WW2 because of her attitude. Stoic but bubbly. I liked the stoic not so keen on the bubbly. She was nice though.
Moving slowly towards the surgery a young supervisor told me his brother was in Pentonville prison. Why he told me that I dont know. Eventually having gained access to the building a young nurse tried to take my temperature by pointing a small device at my wrist it wouldnt work due to the cold we were told by another nurse. The young doctor administering the jab was matter of fact... roll up your sleeve....take off your jumper ....etc.
The jab was over. A small prick. Very brief discomfort..or I might even be imagining that.
94 bus to Acton Green. Walk to Morrisons. Get stuff. Go to craft beer shop. Get beers...interesting rhubarb infused sour.
