Keeping Secrets

The trip had been uneventful, which for kindred was always a desired thing. He'd never been to Denver before, so he was looking forward to seeing a bit of the city if he had time. He recalled some movie that had the words, "10 things to do..." and "Denver" in the title and made a mental note to watch it at some point.

This trip would be marred with the job of having to eliminate a former member of the Circle who had been running their mouths about Covenant business and secrets. Not just any former member, but a former pupil. His mind drifted to Seiko and wondered if she had ever needed to clean up a similar mess.

Gaining her haven information had been much easier than he had thought. Calling in a favor to a Gangrel living outside the City proved to be the right decision. That the Gangrel hated her as well made it that much easier. No one liked when someone left a Covenant and then decided to run their mouth to the highest bidder. Marius just hoped he had gotten here before too much information had run through her lips.

She was a stunning Ventrue who ran in the elite crowds. That she lived in such an exclusive neighborhood didn't surprise him. How easy it was to get in, did.

Living on the top floor, but not the penthouse, Marius had to admit she was living the good life. The apartment was beautiful and offered great views of the City. He knew he'd have some time to himself to check out both the apartment and the building before she came home. Tonight was court and like in New York, kindred made an effort to attend.

The door opened up just before 4:30am. Tossing her jacket on the nearest chair, she placed her keys down, locking the door and taking five steps before she knew something was wrong. To her credit she only paused a moment, but in that moment Marius knew she knew someone was in her haven. As she attempted to leave casually, Marius pushed his horror into her mind and she crumbled onto the floor.

Moving to her with a stake in his gloved left hand, he bent over the paralyzed Ventrue and smiled.

"You knew it was only a matter of time before one of us came for you."

Driving the stake into her chest, she gasped once before settling into a statue like state.

"If you could have only left and not offered our secrets, none of this would have had to have happened. It saddens me to do this. You once showed so much promise."

Marius dragged her body back into the living room. Walking over to his bag, he withdraw a medium sized, metal mallet. Playing with it for a few moments in his hand, he walked back over to her and began to strike her over and over again in the chest.

When her body could take no more damage, it turned to ash. Marius walked back to the bag, placed the mallet in the bag and this time pulled out a small hand vacuum. After her ashes were picked up, he made sure there was no other little messes. When he was satisfied, he packed up everything and placed the bag inside one of her travel suitcases.

Leaving the complex proved to be just as easy as getting in. As he moved out of the parking lot with the suitcase, he wondered to himself how long would it take before she was even missed.
