The only worthwhile definition of greatness would be a person willing to put the needs of others ahead of his own. It is not a measure of how much you do or spend, but rather how much that effort costs you. Bill Gates may donate millions and never feel the loss, while a poor man's donation of twenty dollars is a far greater sacrifice. A last proviso would be that these sacrifices in time and wealth are not done for fame or bragging rights, but rather because the person has a genuine desire to help others.
