Making The Most Of It

I'm sure most of you know my feelings about the election results: not good. But I've done some thinking. I'm working on kitting up myself and some friends with non-lethal personal security gear. I'm getting myself a gun. I know how to make the economy work for me, up or down, and I'm close to getting the resources I need to take advantage of ( Read more... )

On a side note, do you realize how psychotic that first paragraph sounds? Like, the whole thing? I'm sure I read this wrong. I must be reading this wrong. But I'm reading "McCain lost, so I'm getting a gun to ensure my personal safety."

I'm not sure putting guns on everyone is still the right way to prevent gun related murders, but whatever.

Cancer is bad. =(

I didn't get a gun because I expect a sudden upswing of crime. (Though with the likely economic outcome, that's a possibility too.) I got it because Obama is crazy about gun control, and since I've always intended to get one, I thought it best to get one while I still can. The gun, and the non-lethal tools, which tend to be restricted right along with guns, for some absurd reason.

And the numbers show that crime goes down substantially when people can fight back against the criminals. Criminals aren't looking for risk and adventure - they want easy prey.

And yes, cancer is bad.

"they want easy prey."

Like any animal, basically. It makes me wonder how many people who have signs advertising their security systems actually have said security system, 'cause I sure wouldn't fork out the money when a fancy piece of cardboard can accomplish the same thing.

Tell ya what. Why don't we just take each other off our friends' lists? Not only do we not talk to each other any more, we also don't seem to like each other any more. We just antagonize each other every six months or so. So let's not do that any more.

Considering everything you've said on the subject, I thought I was the only person who saw this as a little nutsy. But obviously I wasn't the only person. I was just adding that I also thought it sounded a bit strange.

And yeah sure, I'll take you off my flist.

And clearly some people are just as concerned as I am about losing the ability to protect one's self. Huh. Funny how that works.

Because it would be far better if only the criminals had weapons, wouldn't it? Criminals who, according to actual psychological study, are looking for easy targets who can't defend themselves, and tend to get excited at a conquest and see how far they can go? Of course, under that type of system, a person who shot armed intruders to protect his life, family, and property would go to jail, huh? Just like that case in England.

The only people a gun ban would hurt would be those who buy their guns legally, and those aren't the people who need to be prevented from obtaining guns.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

To me that never really sounded like it was telling us all to go out and get guns.
