Musician? No- they work a lot harder than people realize. Big Business CEO? No- they don't have souls. Hollywood star? Oh Hell no- Hollywood eventually drives them all insane (or into perpetual rehab).
I always wanted to be an architect. Even when I was a kid, I would doodle floor plans when I was bored. I still do, sitting in graduate school classes, if only to capture ideas to add to my portfolio. I do get to play architect from time to time- by Texas law, you don't have to be an architect to design single-family residential, or commercial buildings under 4,001 gross square feet. I'm formally trained as an architectural draftsman and I worked as a draftsman in an architect's office for many years, so I pretty much know what I'm doing.
But, at 37 years old and still finishing grad school in a related field (urban planning), I will probably never be a registered architect. That would require another 2 years of design studios and technical classes, and probably another $20,000 in student loans. It saddens me to admit I will never professionally do what I've really wanted to do since I was in junior high, but it's just too late now.
