the turkey is gone.....and i'm posting dam it.
I try to post when I have news. I try not to make this into a bitch about the wife. Believe or not we've been good so far. She came down sick and I've been tending to her. Things are well with us.
The news so far.....
We're finishing up the collection of artwork for the Sky Pirates 2011 calendar. Some really good work in this one.
We've also submitted Sky Pirates into Shocker Toys Indieverse. Which means we might be getting some action figures out this to place on the table.
the Sky Pirates Coloring book is going to press. Now we have something to offer the wee little ones at show. It will also give me something to do when the crowd slows down at these shows.
Yeah that is a ton of good news......here's the bad news.
Free Lunch dropped us. Our publisher has decided not to print comics any more and has turned into a teaching studio.
Now this is not as bad as it sounds. We've been paying our team out of our own pockets, paying for the print runs, setting reviews and promotions, and doing at least 20-24 shows a year to get the book out there.
They only did graphic design and prep the book for printing. Yeah that's it...no shit that's all they did. when we went into Diamond they did.....jack shit for us.
This just means that my comic will be my comic book with my own studio's name on it. I will still do shows. I will still promote my book, and i'll release the book when it's ready for print. There is one draw back. i need to buy our first trade from them at cost plus 10%. I'll work on that in the future.
So as i said to them, moving on and moving up.
