my other blog...

My other blog has pirates and Bears with guns.

This is my newest blog from the Sky pirates web page:

Ok I have to say this, I love New York Comic Con!!! It’s a rush and a half.

Nowhere on earth can you get a physical work out just by handing out post cards. One thousand postcards were handed out by me. Just by standing in the middle of the inbound line outside the Javits Center, as long as it was free, people were grabbing them up.

Now there is one tip I need to impart to you my readers. If you go to NYCC, drink as much water as you can. Some people believe that soda is good for you when there is poor air quality in the building. It’s not! Get yourself a water bottle and keep it filled. Nothing sucks more than dropping over from dehydration.

I got to meet with Amanda Conner, ok almost stalk Amanda Conner. The downside she wasn’t doing con sketches. Someday I will get her to draw a Sky Pirates character…..someday.

I really did try to get the next two trade paper backs of Freakangels. However the crowd was too tight near the Avatar table to even get near it, let alone shop for comics. With over one hundred thousand people jammed into the Javits, it was hard to get near any of the tables.

I got to do two podcasts! The first was for Comic Timing. I got to plug the website and the trade with them. I have to say Ian was a great host.
The second one was with Chronic Rift. Keith DeCandido co-hosted with me and it was a blast. It feels great to unleash the pure geek within me. Keith is also credited with writing the Foreword for our trade paperback, and he writes Farscape for BOOM Studios.

When our time ran out on Sunday we all packed up and headed home. I was a little sad to go. I felt like time had flown by us and all the good times without saying hello or goodbye. I feel a little cheated! I wanted more parties, I wanted to meet more of the big names, and I never got to put my name on Adam Hughes’ list for a drawing. No really I was willing to sell my soul for an Adam Hughes drawing.

Hopes are high for next year. As in I hope that they finish the rest of the rooms at the Javits because they are going to need it. New York Comic Con is going to grow larger, more colorful, and even louder than it was this year. It won’t be just an assault on your senses; it’s going to be all out war!
So pack up as much bottled water you can find, gather up as much soap as you can throw at the unwashed masses, and cosplay some riot gear, because the media giants are going to let us have it!
