I'm in the larval stages of a new project and I'm ready to open it up to the public--or at least part of the public. :)
I won't go into full details until I have things nailed down more concretely, but the basic concept of the project is Open-Source World Building. Given a basic premise, a skeleton of basic facts & rules, and some directorial oversight, can a community create a "universe"?
For example: Imagine what the Star Wars universe look like if fans were able to contribute to canon?
Trilobyte Studios forums are now open for business, and I'm inviting all of you to come and offer your input.
Right now, there are only 2 worlds started. There are more in the queue waiting to hatch. The current "seed" worlds are a space colony (with a twist), and a modern world of magic (that has to follow the laws of physics).
Others in the cue include:
- A world where angels and demons walk the Earth
- A world where super-powers exist (but have to follow the laws of physics)
- A world of machines
- A world where the Sidhe walk among us
I know that the people who read this are intelligent, creative people with an amazing array of skills and knowledge.
I am cordially inviting you to join in, share your talents, and become part of something that--I hope--will hatch into something important.
