Ben Harper Concert in Athens

Mar 09, 2006 03:21

Well today was a great and eventful.

I drove Gina and Phil to class in Gina's car, since she licenseless at the moment, and it was cool to drive around campus for a change. Picked them up an hour later, and after gathering some things, I drove Gina, Phil, and me to Athens, Georgia where we met up with Andrew and went to see Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals play in the Classic Center. The place was packed with people burning one down and jamming out to the great performance Ben and the gang were giving. We were pretty close to the stage, and once they played Burn One Down--everything just went absolutely surreal. I found myself grooving and dancing to the jam of With My Own Two Hands not to long after burning one down ourselves! The Ben Harper concert was one of the BEST shows I've seen so far! Those six guys can do a mad jam session.

After the show, we went to meet Andrew's friend at Starbucks. Walking through Downtown Athens was like a mini-Atlanta, it was 11 at night and the streets were still alive--which, if you go to UWG, then you know Cton is pretty much dead at midnight. I decided to do a little venturing out into the area and what Phil and I stumbled across was Pita Pit--a quaint hole-in-the-wall resturaunt that cooks some damn good pita's. It couldn't leave Athens that night without trying one. After meeting back up with the gang, we departed Athens--a city out in the middle of nowhere, yet something's always going on downtown. Just expect a long drive if you travel out thattaway.

So if you don't like my fire, then don't come around
Cause I'm gonna BURN ONE DOWN!

Peace,
Cloudpusher
