spinning my wheels with eggplant and jive

Hello, yes, I'm still alive. I suppose.

LIFE GENERAL:
Came home, have been lackadaisically looking for work (there's not much out there, and lot of it sounds hideously boring;  need to overcome that mental obstical and just APPLY already), living with Mom and Dad, cooking my heart out.

Lately there's been a lot of eggplant parmesan, though without any parmesan cheese and looking more like lasagna. Saying it's fantastic is selling it short, honestly, and somehow I lose weight when I make it. Not sure how, given how much cheese is involved.

MOVIES:
Saw The Avengers again! And the shawarma scene (FINALLY, they did not show it in Spain. Not at ALL. I was very irritated). Also saw Amazing Spiderman. It was a day for the second-run cheapie movie theatre, where the MOST EXPENSIVE movies are $3 :D. If you go on Tuesday they're $1.50. I've also seen The Bourne Legacy (yay Jeremy Renner) and Men in Black 3, but of which were good, but simply can't match The Avengers for fun or EXPLOSIONS.

TELEVISION:
In television: I'm still an episode and a half behind on Supernatural (I just...stopped being happy when I watched Show, and was always vaguely fearful about the finale, then I heard about how it ended and became even LESS excited, alas. I should do that...you know, before S8 starts up O_O); I'm a season and a half through Teen Wolf (VERY well done teen show, nice snark, character, plot, EVERYTHING, actually, though I'd be sad to be in ANOTHER fandom where I really can't get behind the most popular pairing); half a season into The Legend of Korra; I gave White Collar S4 two episodes of a shot (the two episodes they put up on Hulu) and...didn't bother to keep going (I expect someday I'll hunt down the whole season and marathon it, but it's just not worth it for me at the moment); and when my parents weren't home I pretty much left disks of Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis) running while I cleaned, cooked, ate, etc. I'm going to have to give Elementary a try, even though...I'm suspicious. Very suspicious. How many Sherlock Holmes remakes can exist at one time before the creativity circuits burn out? WE SHALL SEE. (I know the internet has seen the pilot already. I have not. I'm going to try and catch it on the actual television ).

OTHER:
My house has been filled with music lately, which would generally be a good thing if my mom hadn't been playing piano/singing for a wedding. She's been practicing this one song for SIX MONTHS I swear. I wake up humming it. I hum it while doing dishes or brushing my teeth. And it's based on Pachabel's canon, so it's not like it's got the best lyrics. *headdesk* Maybe now that she's done with the wedding I can stop humming NA na na NA na na NA naaa aaa aaaa in perpetuity.

Hmm, in other news, Dad is working part time as a living statue, I'm getting a substitute teaching certificate, have been making a rug, I've got a new car, got a new ear piercing (just another hole in the right ear, now it looks like that hole is INTENTIONALLY too close to the edge of my ear, as opposed to just looking oddly lopsided), and received copperbadge's new book The Dead Isle for a super-early birthday present!

I've also been writing. Not the same strong bursts I experienced when I was first in Spain (I think I was really really really lonely and stressed, and that contributed positively to my writing volumn...mental health maybe not so much) but nice and steady. I'm currently:

--Editing Freak Camp (I dearly dislike editing, but it's coming along)
--Writing an original fiction romance called, fondly, The Spacefic. It's The Left Hand of Darkness meets...certain other books I've read in my youth meets...a certain brand of fanfic that I dearly enjoy. I'm having fun.
--Editing the damn play (have I mentioned how I don't like editing?)
--An Avengers High School AU on the side

Everything is coming along. :)

So, yeah, still alive, just kind of...in limbo.

complaining makes me feel better, real life
