Tales of Phantasia

Tales of the Abyss
Canon background:
Arche's story technically began a hundred and seventeen years ago when she was born. Well, if we're coming from present time in the Phantasia universe, anyway.
But it REALLY began when she joined the crew that would eventually save the world of Aselia. Arche lived 100 years in the past of the three major protagonists. Upon the revival of someone known as the 'Demon king,' Dhaos, two of the three had gone back in time to seek the help of Klarth F. Lester, someone who was well-versed in the lost art of summoning. Klarth didn't agree to help at first, but he eventually relented, and the search began for the summon spirits. The first was Sylph, but upon arriving there, they'd learned that Bart, the man who looked over the shrine, was missing his daughter. The group looked around for Arche, Bart's daughter, while investigating the shrine and making a pact with Sylph, but didn't find her. They promised to keep a look out for her, however, and went on their way. They did eventually find her ... but she wasn't completely Arche, at first. She claimed to be a girl named Rhea Scarlet, and asked for help in avenging the deaths of her parents when the group came across her. Cless, who couldn't turn a blind eye to the harships of others, insisted that they help, and so off they went to beat a bad guy. Eventually, they did, and 'Rhea' was revealed to be a spirit, who'd possessed the body of her best friend in order to get her revenge on the man who'd destroyed her city and slayed her and her parents. Once the deed was done, Rhea left, and Arche remained.
Arche proved to be muuuuuch different than her best friend was, and even could defend herself quiiiite well. So, anyway, the group went off and made pacts with several other summon spirits before returning to the 'present day,' arriving just in time to 'defeat' Dhaos, and then tend to the health of a very much injured Morrisson and Chester. The group thought they'd finally defeated Dhaos. But did they?
No, of course not.
A messenger from the future came to the group, asking for their help, because Dhaos was making a mess of things in the future. All agreed to go to the future (well, all of the younger ones. Morisson stayed behind), even Chester, who was still very much injured from his battle with Dhaos. In the future, they met a young ninja girl named Suzu, who joined their group and helped them out, and then, upon a meeting with the Elves at the elf village, learned that Arche herself was a half-elf.
Long story VERY short, they made a pact with Origin, Origin made the Eternal Sword out of the two swords they were given a while back, and went to defeat Dhaos once and for all. Upon defeating him, however, they found out why he'd come to Aselia in the first place; to retrieve the seed that would preserve his race.
After all was said and done, Suzu stayed in the future, as that was where she belonged. Cless and everyone else returned to the present, but the time there for Arche and Klarth was short-lived. They used the sword to break the time barrier, and Arche and Klarth were sent 100 years into the past again. Arche was the only one of the two who would see her friends again; being a half-elf made it so that she could live a longer life, and so, even 100 years later, she'd still be alive and looking remotely young.
Happy ending is happy. Yep.
btw, mun apologizes for this summary of the game ... a lot of details were left out, and as a result of not remembering everything, the summary has become sort of a mix of game details and ova details. the ova left out a LOT of events of the game, while still generally following the same basic story, so when all else failed, that was used.
AU background:
Arche was born in Engeve, and grew up knowing only her father; her mother was killed in an accident while transporting food to other cities. Since that tragedy, Arche's father had become an extremely devout follower of the score, fearing that any small stray from it would bring about the demise of the remainder of his family. As a result of her father's devotion to the score, Arche grew up in a very religious household, and as a result of this, grew tired of the score once she gained the ability to think for herself (re: once she became a rebellious little teenager).
From an early age, it was known that Arche was gifted in handling fonons; even her score reading on her twelth birthday seemed to indicate that she was developing an ability and knack for handling them. This overjoyed her father, and Arche's skills were refined as much as possible, mainly used for recreational purposes. She was the one normally starting the fire in the stove, putting it out when it was needed, drying laundry, and more things that could be helped immensely with use of fonons. Arche didn't mind being put to work like this, as she enjoyed her abilities immensely.
Not only did Arche enjoy her abilities, but she often used her free time to experiment with them. It was through her experimentations that she discovered the ability to make herself fly using one of the brooms in the household. Ecstatic about this new revelation, she showed her father, who demanded immediately that she land. When Arche asked him why he looked so serious, he only told her not to fly anymore, that it was something that would get her into trouble. The score for her next birthday told her that she would gain a power that could be seen as fearsome. Arche was careful not to let anybody know about her flight ability from then on, but still managed to practice it in secret; she couldn't let go of her desire to perfect that particular ability.
Arche has had an otherwise relatively normal life; about as normal as a small fonist girl could have in the Grocer's Hamlet, Engeve. She had best friends, Chester and Reid, and grew up as any normal tomboy would.
One day, however, while practicing her artes,
Arche burnt down the Ligers' Forest. Yep. That little incident, instead of being caused by our favorite Cheagle, was caused by our favorite Arsonist Witch. In any case, this story continues, and only gets better. Chester comes along and, in an act of true BFF-ness, helps Arche put out the fire before it does too much damage.
... haha. Damage. Too much. Riiiight.
Turns out, though, the abilities Arche was trying to keep secret were now seen by one of Engeve's old croonies, and he blabbed it to the entire village, causing a good amount of them to turn against Arche. Chester, who'd returned with Princess Natalia, stuck up for her to the best of his ability (causing most of the village to turn against him, as well), but ultimately, he told Rose that he would leave Engeve, and left Arche's decision of whether to stay or leave in her hands. With a promise from Rose that she would let her father know what was happening,
Arche made her decision and followed Chester and Natalia. After
getting further acquainted with the Princess and
calling Chester a jerk, the group of Chester, Arche, and Natalia
Met up with an 'old friend' of Natalia's, Guy, who joins their little group shortly after that meeting.
Oh hey, here's a post where they meet Ion, and have a run-in with Guy's Cousin, Balir. And shortly after, the group meets Balir again in
the Tartatus scene of doomage, where Arche fought, but due to the mun's fail, didn't have many posts. Ultimately, she got hit by an attack and knocked off her broom, causing Chester to go super saiyan into overlimit and save the day.
After the battle, getting healed, and all that jazz, Arche and Chester met up with Reid and had lunch. This is where Reid tells them where he's headed, and Chester decides to travel with Reid instead of the group they'd originally been with, once more leaving the decision to stay or leave to Arche. Naturally stating that she couldn't leave her bffs together or else they'd get into trouble, Arche decided to travel with Chester and Reid.
Later that night,
Arche and Chester actually had a sweet moment. Aww. After reaching Grand Chokmah, Reid goes to seek out another old friend, while Chester and Arche ... Flirt some more, and then had a run-in with Rutee. After this is when the mun left, due to stress and all that jazz. A summary has been posted of events, however:
Chester and Arche get into another one of them huuuuuge arguments, which resulted in Arche leaving the group for a while. After a while, Arche had fully intended to return to them, but when she went to return, she was taken over by the lingering spirit of her dead best friend, Rhea Scarlet, who wanted Rhea's help with one last thing: Avenging the deaths of herself and her parents.
Under the possession of Rhea, Arche moved to find people who would help her; she, herself, was unable to fight, and even while occupying Arche's body, she had no control over her artes. Rhea finally found
people who would help her when she ran into Raven and Estelle, who had just left St. Binah. Estelle, who was more than eager to help Rhea avenge her family's deaths, convinced Raven to help. Raven
had his suspicions, but they helped, and all was well ...
... only not. There was one more thing that Rhea had left to do. So, after
revealing everything about herself and her best friend to Raven, she set out to find Chester and tell him what happened, and then ask him to take care of Arche after she was gone.
Well.
She found him. It was a tearful reunion, and an even more tearful goodbye. Afterward, Arche was finally freed from the spirit of her dead best friend, left unconscious for a little bit, and when she finally woke up, she was back with Chester.
Chester had told her that she had gotten sick, and they'd found her and nursed her back to health in Daath, but while Arche didn't think much on it then, there was something about the way Chester had been acting that was a little odd.
Arche took a walk when she was finally feeling up to it, and she
ran into Raven, but of course, didn't remember him. He mentioned that he was a friend of Rhea's, and the two spoke on her a bit, but even Raven didn't have the heart to tell her the truth of what happened to her best friend. So, again, Arche remained oblivious.
Within the next few days, the group had headed to Chesedonia, for the next leg of their adventure. One morning, Chester
demanded that the two of them get up and head to the shops in the city, though, and didn't give her any reason why. He was being really unexpectedly generous, and Arche began to become more suspicious. After another argument, Arche took off again ... but she did make sure to come back this time. Awkwardness between the two of them continued.
After their time in Chesedonia, the group finally caught a boat back to Baticul, to take Princess Natalia home, Chester and Arche still completely awkward toward each other, and everyone else in a sort of odd silence. When Arche went to bed that night, she fully expected things to be the same.
When she woke up, however, she wasn't on the ship anymore.
Powers:
Arche is a fonist in the world of Auldrant. Therefore, she has the elemental powers of the first through sixth fonons at her disposal. In battle, she primarily uses her ability to use fonons, but also has a broom, yes, a broom, to use for physical attack. It doesn't cause nearly as much damage as her fonon-based attacks do, but her physical attacks with the broom do have a tendency to hit and cause at least a little bit of pain. Put simply, little Arche can cause QUITE the amounts of damage if she'd given the opportunity. Point in case? Don't piss her off.
For a better idea of SPECIFIC abilities Arche has, please to be referring to this thing
here, which actually lists all of her artes and gives a description of what they do.
Personality:
She may not seem like one at first glance, but Arche is a tomboy. Sure, she's got feminine qualities, just as all girls do, but if given a choice of adventure or staying at home and keeping house, Arche is more likely to choose adventure. She's upbeat, mischevious, and has a tendency to sometimes get herself into tricky situations.
While she tries to maintain some semblance of a good young lady for her father, a devout follower of the score, Arche throws most of the 'perfect little angel' qualities out the window when he's not around; this is the side of her that she shows around her friends, the perky side which never seems to take anything seriously. Arche makes friends relatively easily, though her friendships are mainly with guys, due to her interests never seeming to have common ground with other girls her age. In fact, she's often told to grow up by other females of her age group.
Despite the cheerful attitude she normally maintains, though, she's just like any normal teenager; going through life's ups and downs take a toll on her, and she has her moments where even she becomes a bit moody and high-tempered. She doesn't get annoyed easily, but there do happen to be certain people who can push her buttons enough to where she shows her temper.
Her relationships with people are usually good, even so; she teases those close to her, but has proven to be trustworthy and overall, a good friend.
Possessions:
- Her Broom!
- Her clothes and accessories, naturally.
Changes at a Glance:
- What's my age, Again? - Arche has been aged up a bit! She was seventeen in her game canon, and is now 19.
- I'm only human, sheesh! - Since there seem not to be any elves in the Abyss universe, Arche is a normal human being instead of the half-elf she was in her game canon.
- Fonons ROCK! - Her magic has been converted to artes; Arche is now a fonist, who can perform artes which use everything but the seventh fonon.
Sample post:
ALL RIGHT, WHO DID IT?!
MY BROOM IS MISSING! And F-Y-I, THAT BROOM IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME! So, who did it?! WHO DID IT?! Who stole my broom?!
I swear, If that broom isn't returned to me in the next five minutes, someone's getting a fireball to the face. And I can't guarantee that it'll be someone guilty.
SAVE AN INNOCENT, BRING ME BACK MY BROOM.
Signed,
Arche Klaine.
PS.
BRING ME MY BROOM OR SOMEONE GETS BOOM. GOT IT?
I can't emphasize this enough, people.
