i33.photobucket.com/albums/d74/MJ7789/th_jounouchi.jpg Physical Description of Character: Jounouchi stands at about five feet, eight inches tall. Being a tall, muscle-toned sixteen year old boy who spent a great bit of time bullying others, his physique can easily be described as that of a brute. He's got long, wild, and untamed blonde hair and bright brown eyes. Jou dresses very casually and has a bit of a "street thug" thing going for him. Typically, he's seen wearing jeans, sneakers, loose t-shirts, and jackets over them. He almost always sports a KaibaCorp Duel Disk on his left arm.
Point in Canon: Immediately after his death in the Battle City Finals, episode 128.
Personality: Jounouchi is a very strong, compassionate, and fiercely loyal person. His friends and sister are his motivation and drive and he's shown to be very protective over them, especially when it comes to Yuugi. He's risked his life on more than one occasion to protect them and never hesitates to do so, showing that he cares about his friends more than he cares does himself. He’ll always comfort them when they're down and cheers them on through all their duels or obstacles. While he's not the most intelligent person around, to the point of being mocked and thought of as stupid by several people he meets, he has good street smarts and usually picks up on things. Jou also has his good morals, which he sticks to and never falters from. He's very enthusiastic and carefree when he's with his friends and serves as comedic relief.
Jou does not use honorifics when he speaks and comes across as rude or gruff. He's not above cursing and talks roughly to some people, and especially to Seto Kaiba, who he rather hates. Coming from his rough past full of brawls and street fights, he's very brave, tough, and head strong. This usually drives him into situations he shouldn't logically come out on top of, but he usually does one way or another and luck usually seems to be on his side. He’s very passionate about Duel Monsters and he believes in the heart of the cards. His motto is that dueling is about fighting to protect the people you love.
History of the Character:
Jounouchi's never had it completely easy. When he was ten, his parents divorced and he was sent to live with his alcoholic father while his younger sister went to live with his mother. Because of this, he doesn't have a cloes relationship with either of his parents and it took him years to have a relationship with his sister again. He spent much of his school days being a bully and hanging around on the streets. With his friend Honda, he spent many a day bullying the smaller Yuugi Mutou. One day, he took a piece of Yuugi's Millennium Puzzle and threw it into a canal near that school. But when a larger boy at school, Ushio, started beating up Jounouchi and Honda, Yuugi came to their defense and claimed that they were his friends. Inspired by Yuugi's stand, he came to care for the boy who would become his best friend. He retrieved the piece of the Millennium Puzzle and gave it to Yuugi's grandfather.
Jounouchi wasn't very good at Duel Monsters in the beginning. Yuugi suggests he learn to duel under his grandfather's guidance and after some intense training, Jou stands as a stronger duelist and makes it to the top eight in the regionals. After Seto Kaiba kidnaps Yuugi's grandfather and rips up the Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, he develops a hatred for Kaiba. After Yuugi's grandfather is kidnapped by Pegasus, Jou goes with his friend to the Duelist Kingdom tournament to help rescue Yuugi's grandfather and gain the prize money to pay for his sister Shizuka's eye operation. Yuugi gives Joey a Star Chip and a new card to use in the tournament while they're on the boat to the island, and he meets Mai for the first time. After Yuugi's Exodia cards are thrown overboard, Jou dives into the ocean to rescue them. He saves two of the cards before Yuugi dives in to rescue them. Both of them are subsequently rescued by Honda and Anzu, who had snuck onto the boat.
Despite training with Yuugi's grandpa, Jou's still kind of an ameture upon first arriving in Duelist Kingdom. But with Yuugi's help, he defeats Mai. And later, he beats Ryuzaki without help from Yuugi and wins his Red-Eyes Black Dragon card. As revenge for the Blue Eyes incident, Jou challenges Seto Kaiba to a duel outside the tournament. After a brutal defeat, Jou loses confidence in his dueling ability. But he continued to duel through the island and qualified for the semi-finals. He duels Bandit Keith in the finals, despite Keith's cheating, and wins thanks to a little help from Mai. In the finals, Jou has to duel Yuugi for the win. It was a long duel and he gave it everything he had, but Yuugi managed to beat him. As Yuugi dueled Pegasus, Jou cheers from the sideline and watches his best friend become the King of Games. Yuugi gives the prize money to Jou for Shizuka's operation, which he's eternally grateful for.
Some time passes and the Battle City tournament, hosted by Seto Kaiba, is to begin. Jounouchi registers to join along with Yuugi. While he's going to the hospital for his sister's operation, Jou is ambushed by a few members of the Rare Hunters. He duels one of the Hunters, who defeats Jou by using Exodia, and the Rare Hunters beat Jou up to take his Red Eyes. After this, he doesn't feel worthy enough to be by Shizuka's side for the operation, but she refuses to get it until Jou comes. Honda finds Jou and brings him to the hospital, where he talks Shizuka into getting the operation. On the first day of the tournament, Yuugi duels the Rare Hunter that took Jou's Red Eyes, but Jou declines it. He battles through the tournament and qualifies for the quarter-finals, gaining powerful new cards as he went.
Jou ends up possessed by Marik Ishtar, leader of the Rare Hunters, with a Millennium artifact. Jou is forced to duel Yuugi in a match that would end the life of the loser by sinking them to the bottom of the ocean with an anvil. In an effort to bring Jou out of possession, Yuugi summons the Red Eyes and gives Jou his Millennium Puzzle. Yuugi throws the duel on purpose, but Jou breaks free of mind control and forces the duel to end in a draw. He chooses to save Yuugi's life but the key he grabbed were only able to unlock Yuugi's chain, but Shizuka arrives in time to grab the appropriate key, dive into the water, and rescue Jou. In the Quarter Finals on Kaiba's blimp, Jou's match was against a mind-controlled drone claiming to be the real Marik. He ends up winning with a little inspiration from his friends and sister and moved on.
Jou watched Mai's duel against the real Marik in her quarter-final match and tried to cheer her on, but she was infuriated with him over a comment he'd made earlier. Marik rigged the duel so that each time a player's monster was destroyed, they would forget someone they know. Mai forgot about Anzu and Jou, and Marik was about to secure his win with an attack by The Winged Dragon of Ra. Mai was strapped against a wall, but Jou climbed into the arena and tried to save Mai. He was unable to, but Yuugi intervenes and protects them from Ra's blast. Yuugi and Jounouchi survive, but Marik still sent Mai to the Shadow Realm. Jou blames himself for it and the entire event drove his hate for Marik further. But after the quarter-finals, Kaiba's blimp was taken to the virtual world by Noa Kaiba, Seto's stepbrother. Noa tries to trap everyone in the virtual world while he escapes to the real one using their bodies. Working together with Yuugi and his friends, they manage to defeat their captors, rescue the Kaibas, and return to the real world.
In the Battle City finals, Jou duels Marik in the semi-finals. Marik links all the monsters summoned to their respective player, meaning that the duelist will feel all the pain that the monster does. Jounouchi duels really well, until Marik summons Ra and uses it to destroy all of Jou's monsters. It was evident that Jou wouldn't suvive the blast and everyone begged Kaiba to call off the duel. Wanting to witness Ra's power, Kaiba let the duel continue. Jou survived the barely survived the blast and summoned a card to attack Marik's life points directly. Before the attack connected for the win, Jou collapsed and brieflylost his life, making Marik the winner of their duel.
When Jou woke up, he was on Salkia Island.
Magical Powers/Skills: Jou doesn't necessarily have any magic powers. On the other hand, he's rather strong and experienced with street fights. He's not exactly the most intelligent, but he does have some street smarts that have helped him out from time to time.
Weapons: His deck of Duel Monsters cards and his KaibaCorp Duel Disk.

[The LP's voice recorder is activated somehow and Jou is fumbling awkwardly with the device, causing a lot of noise.]
What the hell is wrong with this stupid piece'a junk. ...Is it supposed to beep like this? Helloooo?
[He laughs awkwardly and pauses.]
I dunno where I am, or what's going on. My name's Jounouchi and I wanna go back to Domino City. I... there's something I gotta do.
[He pauses again, coming to a realization]
Listen, I'm not... dead or anything, right? This is all real?
[He drops the LP on accident and the recording ends abruptly.]

Jounouchi finally stirred and pushed heavy eye-lids open. Everything was blurry as his now-dull brown eyes adjusted to focus. He felt the grass under him, the warm sun hanging overhead. Birds were chirping and he could feel a faint breeze. His body was so heavy and every inch of him ached; it was the pain of death and loss and defeat. But, where was he? This certainly wasn't Marik's Shadow Realm, hell, or anything that screamed afterlife to him. It almost felt like he was in the Duelist Kingdom again, that peaceful little island governed by pristine nature and beauty. But for some reason, he couldn't help but feel that this wasn't Duelist Kingdom.
He grunted a little as he summoned all of his strength and pushed himself into a sitting position. Jou took in the forest for all it was worth and simply observed. He felt... lost, hungry, confused, dazed, sore, tired, angry. Jou needed to get his bearings if he was going to get out of this forest and back to the Battle City finals. “Think, Jou...” The teen rubbed his temples with intensity and sifted through his memories. The last he remembered, he had fallen against Marik in the Battle City semis. He had faced the wrath of an Egyptian God Card. And, well, he had died. At least... he thought he had died, but this world felt so real. He could feel everything around him.
...He could feel something under him, come to think of it. He reached under his leg and retrieved an odd device. "What in the..." he mumbled and turned the L337Pod over in his hand. He'd never seen this in his life. Jou brushed his finger over every feature of the foreign object. He paused when he reached the key and studied it for a second. “Nyehhh,” he groaned in annoyance and fell over so that his back flopped against the grass under him. He stared at the clouds hanging above him and sighed. Jounouchi was even more confused now than he was two minutes ago. None of this was making sense.
