it's been a while...
i haven't had much time to update. i have been chasing caden all around the house because he can army crawl so fast i can hardly keep up with him. he also has learned how to pull himself up on the couch and cruise around the living room by holding onto whatever he can, even the wall, and walk with the help of objects wherever he wants. my son is growing up. yesterday was his 10 month birthday. i am so blessed to have that little bundle of joy.
the owner of my work had a 11 month old niece who died in her sleep last week. it really affected me, even though i had never met the baby or her mom. i bought him a sympathy card and wished there was something else i could do. i prayed. and prayed. i cannot imagine the feeling of loosing a child. i prayed some more. my prayers were filled with thanks and gratefulness.
anyway, let's see.... last weekend we bought an entertainment center for the t.v. playstation,etc. it has 2 cabinet doors on the bottom, and shelves on either side. then up about 3 feet there are glass shelves on either side of the t.v. they have recessed lights on the top so i can put some of my pretty things up there and show them off.
before i moved away, my mom gave me a jar made of "carnival glass" aka "nancy glass" anyway it's amber colored with a kind of oil slick looking sheen to it. all the colors of the rainbow. anyway, i have always loved it 1)because it's pretty and 2)because it used to belong to my grandmother, who died when my mommie was 14. so while we were antiquing looking for cool stuff to put on the shelves, i found a pitcher and a candy dish (i know candy dishes are for old ladies) made of the exact same glass i already had. so i haggled with the guy at the store, who, by the way, was drinking a budweiser and got both pieces for 20 bucks! score! oh and we went to pier 1 to see what we could afford (not much, duh) and we got a papasan chair with a really pretty linen-ish off-white cushion and i love that too!
so because caden has been pulling up on the glass topped coffee table we have, we've been shopping around for a new one for a few weeks. and today we bought a beautiful one at the great american home store. it is cherry wood (kinda sucks because we have blond hardwood floors and all of our other things like bookcase and ent. center are light colored) but i love it. and we just put it together tonight. OH and! it was 60$ off total price too.
i know this is getting long but i'm almost done.
brian and i went valentine's shopping earlier this week. in 4 years we've never gotten each other anything. this year i got him a really fancy citizen watch that was 70% off (otherwise we could never have afforded it) and i got my very first pair of diamond earrings. they're 1/2ct.each and they are beautiful and i love them so much. and i love brian so much. i am so lucky to have him. this morning he got up early with caden, let me sleep till noon, picked out my clothes for the day, and started my bath water. then he said he was going to starbucks and came home with 2 bouquets of flowers for me. yellow poms and these others i don't know the name but they're purple and yellow and beautiful.
i am happy. happier than i have been in a long time. i love my child, i love my fiance. i can't wait to marry him and spend the rest of my days growing old with the man who will do anything to put a smile on my face.
