So, I have been thinking about things, and maybe I have been a bit remiss with how I've been treating Guy. I think that maybe I've been underestimating Guy at times - it's easy to fall into the trap of him being the buffoon, who is there as a punching bag, but that's because of Robin. Robin is acknowledged to be the better fighter, right from their childhood. On the other hand, Guy ruled Locksley with an iron fist, and that was with people returning from the Crusade. He didn't tolerate any dissent, and would deal with trouble makers personally. He was also the one personally chosen to go and assassinate King Richard in the Holy Land - and the only reason he failed was again, because of Robin.
Guy has got reasonable intelligence after all - he went from poverty at 16 to becoming one of Prince John's elite knights - something he planned for, and got. You have to be of a certain status to be a deputy to a Sheriff and be known by England's ruler.
Maybe I've made him too noble? He has changed slightly because of the village, this is true, but he's still the same sadistic brute at heart...
