Headache-y holiday

Nov 08, 2005 17:23

Yeah, it's one of those rant & whine editions of this journal entry. Yay!

I'm still in Semarang, just got some work done. Gah, work on the holidays? Big boo to that. It didn't help that cousins run amock at your grandma's and they conquer the sole computer with their rule and conquer games (yeah, my cousins are still kids, I'm the only adult). Another gah. It didn't help that I fell ill on the big day, either. After the Ied Prayer, I collapsed and slept until the sundown, woke up, ate, slept again. The next day my dad dragged me to see his parental units in another city, 3 hours drive from Semarang. No, I'm not feeling the love there. Thankfully it was painless compared to the other years, since my bro & I hightailed from there in the evening. I had sickness for an excuse and my grandma in Semarang needed our companion since others will be leaving. My parents? Had to sleepover, mwuahahaha. But of course, karma thought to chase my ass for laughing at my parents predicaments, in the form of a bad migrain and a dash of sinusitis (sp?). That really killed the mood for doing my analysis for work.

Anyway, I've finally sent my work in through email. The usual internet cafe 2 doors down my house wasn't open, and is still not open yet, so I had to go to this unventured netcafe and do my deeds here. Yes, just like I dreaded, it's slow and the computers are simillar to the ones in the stone age. Okay, I'm exaggerating. But seriously, no USB port? Ok, I'm a snob.

I guess, by far, this is the worst Ied holiday by far, although I'm thankful that it's not THAT bad. I guess work and fevers and migrains just ruins my holiday spirit. That, and slow ass internet connections and old computers. And FPL asking me to organize her bachelorette party. It all started with Ied greetings through sms, with me texting her. And she replied, not in context, but telling me that she missed me in capital letters. WTF? And it all went downhill from there. Sweetheart, I'm not bitter for you marrying. I'm bitter that you still consider me your bitch. Heh. Okay, maybe in her inept ways of good intentions, she actually meant well to include me in her festivities. But seriously, you don't ask someone who's been harboring intense feelings towards you (or your ex and all equivalent labels) to organize your bachelor(ette) party. That's messed up. In the wise words of my friend, Gita, "heartless girl is trying so hard to have a heart, but failed".

I suppose I should aim to get myself a laptop one of these days. At least I'll be able to entertain myself with prefered choices of er, entertainment. All I have now is the local tv. At least I'm caught up with the commercials. Anyone else (besides arrozconpollo) noticed this one Ponds commercial where it had two girls, one asian-white and one tanned, checking each other out amongst the crowd? And when they crossed paths, asian-white girl passed along her Ponds product to tanned girl? Heh, I'm sure inside the bottle there's also a phone number. What? I'm reading too much into this? But even my brother agrees! And notice the music! Adrenaline porn(Hapsari, 2005)! If one of the girls were substituted with a guy, I'm sure everyone will agree that the context of the commercial is attraction and lust at first sight. Seriously, asian-white girl is Marinaesque predatory while tanned girl is Jennyish the preyful. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but if it's intentional, it's so wrong that it's right.

Uh-oh, my screen is getting weird. Better jet.

arrozconpollo, thank you for keeping me sane with our DOM (Dirty Old Men) texting sessions. Yes, Saving Face roxx! I'm glad you finally agreed :P. And Dairy Queen is still the indulgent of choice for my sweet tooth *coughs*.

dark_toothfairy, I'll be back tomorrow night. Hope you're not confined to house arrest sans net at the time ^^. Good luck for your exams. I'm sure you'll rock it, babe.

stungme, dude, let's chat on the weekend!

aliveunlikeme, waiting patiently for your AO essay ^^. Take your time, though. No pressure. From me. *gets bricked*

Guys, I read some emails, but sorry for the non-reply. I'll get back at ya when I'm back in Jakarta, tomorrow night. Peace out!

ETA: stupid computer's outdated clock *kicks*
