Hectic week

Last Friday, I started feeling sick. I didn't feel it on the weekend, since I was having fun with my friends. A friend had a birthday, so we had a sleepover at my house where we watched American Idol, Takarazuka's Elisabeth by Moon Troupe and their first part of Ernest in Love. I finally felt the fever hit me on Monday and thought I'd go to the doctor to get a blood test, just in case I have a typhus relapse.

Monday to Wednesday were filled with overtime, then Thursday came. Just after I managed to fall asleep, around 3 am, I got a phone call from my aunt in Solo, telling me that my grandfather passed away. I actually don't remember much what she said, I just remember I had my cellphone in my hand and was still dazed, thinking was it a dream or not. After checking my incoming calls and saw that my aunt really called me, I tried to call my parents in Iran. After an hour, I finally managed to tell my Dad that his dad passed away. They weren't able to come, so my brother and I had to go to the funeral, and of course take care of the things that my Dad were supposed to handle as the eldest son. After that I managed to secure 3 tickets for the afternoon flight to Solo. My aunt from my mom's side decided to accompany me, especially knowing that I wasn't feeling well, while also representing my mom's family at the funeral.

Since the flight was at 1 pm, I was able to drop my work at the office and go to the doctor. My doctor ordered a blood test, which confirmed my theory that indeed, its a relapse. Woo hoo. He told me to rest for a week, which of course we both knew I wouldn't do ^^; He gave me antibiotics for a week, 4 times a day. That's a new record for me. And not surprisingly, the antibiotics makes me sleepy. I don't know why. I even get sleepy after taking paracetamol, which he also gave me for my fever. But yes, I had a plane to catch.

From the doctor I took a cab home, picked up my brother, and then picked up my aunt at BSD. My brother already packed overnight clothes for us, just in case we couldn't get a flight back to Jakarta in the evening. At the airport, we met our cousin and her husband, also my dad's step-aunt (who I just knew that day that that's how she's related to my dad, I didn't know before, I thought she was his cousin ^^;) We all had the same flight by coincidence. As soon as our flight landed, we went straight to the burial ground. The military ceremony (he was a colonel in the army) was just wrapping up when we arrived. We gave our grandpa our last respect, and the family gathered to say a prayer.

After all business was done in the cemetery, we went to our grandparents' house, where our grandma stayed. She wasn't in the condition to go to the funeral, so she stayed behind with some people, including my other aunt from my mom's side who came from Semarang. We greeted her, said our condolences and regret that our parents couldn't make it (can you tell that we're not that close? :P), and then had a late lunch. Afterwards, an aunt from my dad's side asked me to settle the bills for the funeral, just as I expected. I was too tired to ask for the details so I just asked her to tell me the figures, so I can just do what I have to do there and, well, leave. We couldn't get a plane back to Jakarta from Solo that day, and the next day it was also fully booked, so we decided to go to Semarang and get a flight from there. Which we did, the next morning.

So ever since I got back, I've been lying down, catching up some sleep, and getting bored. I actually managed to do some work, but only when I'm really really bored feeling up to it. Relapses are never fun ^^; But at least I get to watch Ernest in Love over and over again while trying to fall asleep ^__^ I love that show! I'm now tempted to follow Algernon's footsteps and go Bunburying all over the place :D

Oh, another thing that I've been doing is watching Ueno Juri's Last Friends. First, I didn't know that it was a reunion for the Nodame main cast, save for the guy who played Chiaki. Second, I didn't know that the series ripped off borrowed from the L Word and Sailormoon. I remember seeing a trailer for the second season of the L Word being similar to the opening of the series. And, er, HaRuka & Michiru? HaRuka being a motorcyclist, deeply in love with Michiru but not saying anything? Michiru being in an abusive relationship, and running to HaRuka for comfort? It sounds like a fanfiction coming to life! All they forgot is to give them the violin and piano! And although it looks fanficy, I actually enjoyed the 3 episodes that I just saw! It was well executed! Who knew Ueno Juri would make a really cool angsty HaRuka? ^__^ And now Utada Hikaru's Prisoner of Love is stuck in my brain, along with Kiriyan's Bunbury song.

life, ernest in love, last friends, takarazuka
