Its been quite a weekend. I kicked it off by watch the E3 Halo 3 Announcement Trailer. You almost have to appreciate the guys at Bungie. Their nice machines, although not really worth the expense unless your going for top-of-the-line parts or close to it, since you to pay extra for things like customer service and warranty. On the bright side, they come with almost nothing installed but the basic OS so you can configure them fairly hassle free. They do tend to sound like jet engines, or at least my monster does.

I don't know about that, comparing them to a comparably-equipped XPS shows the Alienwares coming in hundreds of dollars below final tag price of the Dells. Don't even get me started on IBM's high-performance machines.

Since you're both technically literate, you might get the best deal out of rolling your own. Check out the budget box in the Ars System Guide: April 2006 edition

Yeah, but there are a number of mitigating factors, number one being that ultimatepsi and I pretty much run a high-mobile shop now -- everything is a notebook, which puts significant constraints on the construction strategy. Also, neither of us is qualified to do the heatflow analysis Alienware does on their notebooks.

Forgot about the whole mobility thing.

I'm experiencing a sudden pang of jealousy.
