Jobs, Houses, and Dolls
Jobs
I have a job interview for a place that makes HPV assays on Wednesday. It's about seven minutes away from where Tony works, so that would be good. Also, it's a more challenging job (ouch) that will look much better on my resume than the one I have now (yay). It's funny, because I think telling people "I clone bacterial genes into vectors" impresses them more than "I test assays," but there you go. It's mostly because people often don't know much about science and life in a lab. To be fair, though, the experimental part of testing an assay is simple. The difficulty is doing the write ups and convincing the FDA that your stuff is legit. For the record, my cloning job is going fine, I'm just keeping an eye out for better opportunities, particularly ones near where Tony works.
Houses
Tony and I had a short meeting with his father, who used to buy, fix up, and sell real estate for profit. According to him, with house prices and loan rates being at record bottoms, we should be able to buy a house by the time our current lease ends (Feb 2013). This is exciting news, for many reasons, lol! I keep trying not to spend hours looking at listings, since the ones up now may not be up when we are ready to buy.
Dolls
I am having a really hard time with them right now. I have sold quite a few of them (yay), and I have a whole bunch on layaway right now. The trouble is deciding what to do about future dolls. Sometimes I consider getting a huge, realistic, sexy boy (Iplehouse Felix is a possible candidate), but... Eh, I don't really like SDs! Although I love looking at those that belong to other people. Sometimes I think about dolling my cast, but, again, eh. I don't have the interest to track down the very specific items each character would require. In the end, I think I will just slowly collect Blue Fairy Tiny Fairies, but I'm not even sure about that. I think my collection will never work itself up to its former glory... But maybe it eventually will, I dunno. I also will pick up a few MNF. I am down to one, my Nora, but since I have so much stuff for them already, I will be picking up a few more. But who? It's a tough choice... They are all really cute, aren't they?
I'm also waffling over boys. I don't think I will have any. I love other people's boy dolls, but for me... It's just so hard to buy them stuff, and that is a big thing for me. I do not have the patience to hunt down items for them. Period.
Actually it occurs to me that right now, I only have four dolls I know I am keeping: Ayris, Penelope, Nora, and Himeka-chan. I've thought about selling Himeka-chan, even though I like her a lot, so that I can deal only in MSDs, but probably she will stick around. I sort of dote on her.
Either way, I will probably not be buying new dolls until I get a house, so that the money can go to the downpayment. That gives me plenty of time to think about it, lol. I just wish my Blue Fairy special order ws choice dolls will come, but I think that will be mid August, noooo. Although I will need to find a faceup artist... I was thinking of sending them to Caroline of Viridian House, but I will be sad to send them away for two months right after they finally get here D: Maybe Estebebe? But I don't know how commissioning them works D:
