adding friends
OK, I've been on a friend-adding streak recently, and I noticed some take offense if people are adding them solely for fic reading. I hope nobody I added though will take offense, as I'm a voracious reader more than anything, and reading makes me happy. Or sad, or nostalgic, or feel any kind of emotion. But that's what I love about reading. And when I find fics that make me feel, I would say that's huge props to the writer, so I add them to make sure I never miss anything they write, since I always keep an eye on my Friends Page. Maybe sometimes I get selfish, or feel the need to be selfish, especially if the writer decides to go on hiatus or close down their account or abandon a fic halfway. Maybe that's the reason why some take offense, if you're interested in being their friend only because of their fics. But I know they have their own lives, their real lives, I know there's a real world. But I just like to go on LJ and read because sometimes I don't like the real world. And shit, I live in a third-world country, so of course sometimes I won't like the real world. And books cost a lot over here. So I hope people will understand and allow me the honor of reading their stories and forgetting about real life for a couple of minutes. Sometimes it's the only indulgence I can allow myself. So there, if I added you recently and you are reading this, don't be offended if I added you as friend. You don't have to add me back if you don't want to. Unless you have to add me so I can have access to your fics, in which case I'm willing to beg. :-)
