There is a "Holiday" special on South Africa currently showing on BBC as I plan, with two terribly proper English women having an unreasonably smooth and wonderful time and saying things like, "Now, if I were a lion and I didn't want to be spotted, I don't think I'd give the game away by roaring, do you?" I'm confident you'll make the right decision, my dear. I'm not sure there are any right answers to what direction one's life should take, so I would do what makes me happy. :-) And I have total envy of your freedom to travel now!

Nah, I'm staying till next July at least, but it's always nice to know what your options are. I went through a spate of eyeing up jobs in Jakarta a couple of months ago, and I'll always have my eye on the time when I have enough experience to consider applying to the Middle East proper.

On the other hand I may abandon it all after my next contract and return to academia. So....
