The fenders and rack too? And would it fit a five-footer (I am short). Because that's about exactly what I'm looking for.

i assume so as they're in the pic. alex is about my height (5'6) so i doubt it would be too big with seat adjustments etc. ridgebacks are nice bikes.

Wow. I want to check Brick Lane market on Sunday to make sure my bike doesn't show up there... but I think I'd really like to have an in-person look at his!

i just text alex to check he still has the bike (he only told me about it yesterday or something so it's likely), i'll put you in touch with him if so. and yeah do check brick lane - those bastards! although what to do if you see it i don't know...

Awesome, thanks so much for the help!

I'm thinking, if the lock is still locked to the rack at the back, my lines will go something like this:

"That's my bike."
"Yes, it is, and I can prove it."
"By unlocking the lock on the back."
"See? So, will you give me my bike or will I call the police? I reported it missing on Wednesday with a description."

Hey, did your friend respond to your text? If the bike's still available, I'd be really keen to get a look... maybe Monday?

he didn't reply, weirdly. i'll give him a call later on if i don't hear from him.

Also the police have told me very firmly not to confront them if I see my bike but to call the police. I suppose they would, eh, but actually it sounded sensible -- they said if I could positively ID the bike, they'll be able to help.

there are always police around that area so one should come quick!

No, I'm a big big dummy and hadn't insured it. You can guarantee the first thing I'll do when I replace it (or get it back) is join LCC and get insurance! And given I'll be self-employed, the cycle to work scheme doesn't apply for me. :(
