Today was the
repatriation of 8 British soldiers who were all killed in Britain's 24 deadliest hours so far in the Afghanistan conflict.
Their deaths brought the British death toll in Afghanistan over 800, and higher than that for Iraq.
Each of the men brought home to rest today, when he died, was younger than I am now -- three by a decade.
They were: Rifleman William Aldridge, 18; Rifleman James Backhouse, 18; Private John Brackpool, 27; Rifleman Jonathan Horne, 28; Rifleman Daniel Hume, 20; Rifleman Joseph Murphy, 18; Corporal Lee Scott, 26; and Rifleman Daniel Simpson, 20.
Rest in peace, lads.
