Do you have more than one web-browser installed? If so, the first thing would be to try the same sites with a different one.

OK, I went ahead and installed Mozilla (glad I did, I like it better than Explorer).

Now, everytime I go to a page that has Flash content, Mozilla tells me I need to install a plug-in. I click to allow it to install the missing plug-ins and Mozilla tells me it can't do it and provides a button to manually install, which takes me to the Flash website, where I install -- the installation, according to the website, completes and -- no effect.

I need a cluestick.

Ah, it's OK! After a couple more tries I managed to install it with Firefox. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you got most of it sorted on your own, so there's really no need to thank me. And I'm glad you've having a positive Firefox experience -- it's a good browser, and open-source to boot, so I cheerfully encourage its use!

Oh, but I was having no luck sorting it out on Explorer, so the nudge to get Firefox was definitely helpful! I have used it before, just never bothered to download it on (not so) New (anymore) Laptop.
