Things...

I had an amazing holiday, although at only a week, far too short. I've never been back for such a short time, not even when I was living elsewhere in Canada.

Because I was there for such a short period, and because I was at a rehearsal dinner Thursday night, bridesmaids' girls' evening (complete with mani-pedis, dinner, and a viewing of "Twenty-seven Dresses," natch) on Friday, and at the wedding all day Saturday we didn't go to Gibsons, which is alright -- it will still be there next time I go. For various logistical reasons we also didn't go and see anything at Bard on the Beach or Theatre Under the Stars either, which was slightly more annoying. But there you are. I haven't seen a Bard on the Beach play in YEARS, and that was really the one I wanted to go to. Must console self with attending something at the Globe this summer. Or possibly A Midsummer Night's Dream in Regents Park.

But I got to see Mum, Keith, Nana, my aunt Sarah, and my closest friends, and the weather was sublime from Sunday onwards (I arrived Friday evening), so no complaints.

Also the wedding was amazing and beautiful and lots and lots of fun! Ceremony = weepy. Dinner = good, with fun party games, with some of which I was unfamiliar as they were from Chinese culture. Dance party = awesome. Very good DJ. My favourites are always the ones everyone goes nuts for, eg (ignore the videos, I only listened to the first two seconds of each to make sure they were the right versions!):

I Will Survive
Living on a Prayer
etc...
Also various people (including the bride!) Russian dancing to Rasputin was hilarious.
And of course, the double-whammy of Five Hundred Miles and Home for a Rest which always kills me daid. In the best of ways.

When I go to Vancouver, I am happy. When I come away, I am sad.

Couldn't take it anymore. Have given notice will rescind contract due to misrepresentation on the number of rooms. I wanted to vacate on the 1 August, and was prepared for Tom or Ruth to send a solicitor's letter (probably Tom, as he could have done it on his firm's letterhead) if landlord didn't acquiesce. However, landlord has agreed to refund full deposit on condition that I vacate 29 July because I moved in 29 June. Decided this wasn't worth fighting over.

Madly flat-hunting again, although may have already found something -- sharing with a lovely girl in West Hampstead who's an artist and made tea and bought vegan biscuits in anticipation of my visit!

Justin has agreed to keep Daisy until the 29th although he's moving out the 28th so he's said very firmly I HAVE to pick her up at 7 pm on the 29th because no-one is living there until the 1 August, when their new tenants move in. Had a rather frustrating text exchange with Georgie yesterday which began with her saying that Daisy was being really clingy and distracting her from some work she needed to do, and asking if I could "babysit" her and continued to me offering to pick Daisy up early/come round and distract her/do whatever Georgie needed me to do. Georgie turned down every offer I made and finally rang me up to say, she didn't want me to have to do a bunch of stuff that was difficult for me, that wasn't the intention, rather, she thought she'd just needed to say that it had been difficult looking after Daisy.

Well, OK then. Huh.

I think Georgie finds Daisy more of a burden than me. Maybe because she worries about her more. Personally, I've never found Daisy a bother, so I'm always a bit boggled when Georgie asks, "Are you sure you want to keep her? You don't resent the trouble she is?" because I don't think she is any trouble. I feed her twice a day. Occasionally she wants cuddles. I give them. Sure she's clingy sometimes, but she's never distracted me from my work. Even when I was having panic attacks over my exams, Daisy didn't add to my stress. I don't really get it.

I'll be glad when I'm settled somewhere with her. The girl in West Hampstead loves cats and is very enthusiastic about living with one. Maybe I'll just tell her I'll take the room.

Second interview with Renaissance Chambers is at 6.50 pm next Wednesday. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease let whatever preparation I think to do be enough.

I am meeting my father in just over an hour, also. At Paddington station, before he gets a train back to Wales. What do I want to bet his train leaves at, like, 5.30?! ;D
