So yesterday afternoon my boss called me and said that after the meeting he'd been at he'd spoken to HR and got some good news.
First, my administrator (remember when I did interviews, oh, three months ago or so? Her) can be put in post soon because her CRB check has finally come back. Then he added, "The CRB check it turns out she didn't need."
Come again?
Turns out administrative staff don't need to be CRB checked. Which is logical.
But if we'd known this:
1) I could have had a temp at the beginning of this week to hand over to.
2) My administrator would have been in post by now and she would know what's what and that would help a smooth handover.
3) I wouldn't have had to be a temp for my first three months with the organisation, way back in November-February.
This is a very rare instance of my boss getting it completely wrong. He assumed any staff in SCYP (Services for Children and Young People) would have to be CRB checked. Having double-checked, he was wrong.
The one good thing this means is that I will have a temp today to hand over to. One day is better than nothing!
Suddenly I am very sad it's over and I don't want to leave.
