I keep replying to different people's blogs but never posting in mine, so I should probably remedy that.
Lots going on, but the big focus for me is the Kotei this weekend. After investing a crapload of money, I am hoping for a decent turnout so that we break even. Its not like I have a ton of money to throw away, even if it would be nice to go to town on the event, and make it extra-special. I don't have the kind of money that Greg in Calgary has to throw around.
Went to Chinatown on Sunday for some last minute knick-knack shopping, and made it a family day. Probably the first time that all 5 of the people that live in my new townhouse have gone out together as a family unit since we moved in.
Marikko had a blast walking around and seeing the different sights, and we got her another little kimono outfit, so she can dress to her name. She looks adorable in it. She'll probably have it on at the Kotei.
Even the teenagers seemed to not mind the admittedly forced trip out with their respective parental figures. Overall, I would say that the day, while not a cheap one after a trip to the always good (and somewhat affordable) Old Spaghetti Factory, was a success.
Also, I helped my brother and his lady move into their newly purchased condo on Wednesday. I had to laugh at what 1.5 times what we paid for our place in the Wack gets in Vancouver, but hey, that's the big city. Its a nice little place, and they're happy with it. And like us, they'll now know the joy (and bankruptcy) that comes with owning a place.
Finally, on the way to help them move, I picked up a new trade from the Comic Shop: Y: The Last Man. An excellent read, and one I'll be getting more trades for, since Brian K. Vaughn is the man. Let me add that if you haven't read his "Pride Of Baghdad" graphic novel, do yourself a favour. It is one of the best graphic novels you'll ever read.
I'll finish with a few months old picture of my little monster:
