Join Lauren Faust's Vet Equipment Fund Campaign
The Wildlife Learning Center, located in California, is dedicated to rescuing and housing wildlife and to educating the public about life sciences and conservation. It is also a favorite of Lauren Faust. In 2013 bronies raised $12,000 for the WLC and this year Lauren Faust along with the cast and writers of MLP:FIM have raised the ante: They are lending their time and talents to provide 19 different "perks" in a WLC Indiegogo page tailored to Pony fans with a goal of raising $30,900 to buy veterinary equipment, such as an anesthesia machine, X-ray machine, stainless steel working table, autoclave, microscopes and more. After a little over a day and a half, the fund drive is almost halfway to its goal. There are 28 more days to go.
I really like this means of raising funds, more than the charity auction approach. Some of the perks are really sweet. There is a $25 raffle to ask Lauren Faust to draw the OC pony of your choice. $10, you get a postcard that's a print of artwork made by Lauren Faust for the WLC (it will probably look a lot like this). T-shirts, prints, all the way up to a meet-up with the writing staff for MLP:FIM in LA for $3,000.
The WLC's fund drive in 2013 was 50% more ambitious than this one and did not reach its goal. But the "perks" weren't quite as awesome as they are this time around. I'm just surprised that the WLC isn't running two simultaneous campaigns, one similar to the 2013 campaign for local residents, and the MLP one.
