Too Darned Hot!

So this weekend we're having a (mini) heatwave.  Temperatures got down to 24C last night, & are up in the low 30s in the daytime.  No I know that some of you, Dear Readers, have to put up with temperatures far higher than that in the summers, probably in the winter too, but here it's HOT!  I was in Winchester Thursday, when it ( Read more... )

I guess I couldn't reach it.. and I haven't been very careful with the suncream either.

Yes, thanks. It doesn't feel sore for a long time. The thing is, when I get a sun burn I feel all hot at night, and I like it. Now I have to dig under my duvet again. (yes, I even sleep with a duvet in summer).

You know what's great on really hot days? Ice cold beer! I find a pale ale is best and some pubs over here even have plastic mugs that they wet and then freeze. It's sooo good like that:)

I've seen double-walled plastic mugs you can fill with water (between the double walls) & then freeze, which keeps any drink really cool. Currently we still can't get the ice tray into the fridge or the freezer. Mind you, you can do some pretty good iced coffee by making coffee, letting it cool & then sticking a lump of ice cream in it - vanilla or (what we're currently using) Green & Black's organic chocolate!

Ball Games are Boooooooring bronchitikat July 3 2006, 07:49:30 UTC
As spectator sports, & it's too hot to play. I just keep tabs on what is happening internationally &, far more importantly, to Portsmouth Town.

I reckon that what America calls 'football' is really Rugby football, for wimps. Real rugby players don't need the protective armour! Well, ok, so they may use gumshields, shin-pads & 'boxes', but that's about it.

ya, well they do wear "armor" but they call it padding, he he.

even so, they do get quite damaged
the real violent sport here (and in canada) is hockey
there isnt enough padding in the world for that sport

We had to play hockey at secondary school. In the winter, on a 500' high hilltop, in the wind, in the snow - provided it wasn't falling, once, even, in the fog - so you couldn't see the either goal from the centre spot!

Or do you mean ice hockey - cos that has knives too!
