Loose Ends (I read a tip which said 'use pictures')*

What d'you do with a problem like

This was the replica of 'Maria', the machinemenschen from the iconic 'Metropolis'.  The lighting there kept changing green-red-blue, which made reading the labels a tad difficult, but was quite atmospheric (Designers!)

Quick warning, the film itself is 2 1/2 hours long.

Then on the way back to South Ken station we saw something burning - which was a bit worrying given what had happened in Westminster.  Closer inspection (I am nothing if not intrepid to find something interesting to put in this blog) showed this

picture kindly provided by BiL.

The box the man was sat on produced a tune, bursts of flame came from the bell of the tuba as he played the tuba part.

There always was a better class of busker around South Kensington station forty years ago - the Royal College of Music being just up the road.  Now of course TfL license buskers to, we hope, brighten commuters' travels.  He certainly made passersby smile.  One guy tried to get his girl to dance with him.

I thought it fair comment on what happens when funding is cut to orchestras - they no longer put on 'Tubby the Tuba' in children's concerts.  They have to go direct to the public, with gimmicks, to raise funds!

H did a YouTube search yesterday and came up with this, among many other clips.  Outside the Science Museum, no less.

Apparently this is Christopher Werk, a Polish gentleman who has played in many cities across Europe - see YouTube (or should that be YouTuba?)

Meanwhile London continues as, more or less, normal (flaming tuba and all.)  One madman in a car with a knife and an aim to kill and maim will not stop us.  Not even if he was 'doing it for IS/Daesh'.

I think everyone turned up in the Houses of Parliament yesterday as usual, possibly moreso even if they wouldn't necessarily have had business there, in a show of solidarity.  Business as Usual for the 'Mother of Parliaments'.  While Police and security forces are on heightened alert and up to double strength around the whole country.

Today the rest of us are celebrating Red Nose Day, the biannual fundraiser for Comic Relief.  Doing something funny for money to raise millions for charities here and across Africa.  It's something like their thirtieth year this year and millions of people are in better situations, or even alive, because of all the work the charities have been enabled to do.

Should anyone try to tell you that we in the UK are 'living in fear and staying indoors worrying.'  Or that we are going to 'stop immigration'*** or 'crack down on Muslims'.

Rot!

It's Business as Usual, with heightened security and vigilence, for the UK.  In fact, it being Red Nose Day, it's probably Business as UnUsual, which is a very British response.

Now, where is my red nose?  I'm off to raid the market.  Told you, Business as (un)Usual!

Y'all have a good Red Nose Day now!

*Then I remembered that I had to upload pictures before I could share them!  Sorry, I was in a bit of a hurry to go raid the market this morning/lunchtime.  I bought about half of a fruit and veg stall.

***Also note, Khaled Masood, the suicidal car driver, was not an immigrant.  He was born here, in Kent.  And we've been attacked by a better class of terrorists here over the years!  Business still continues as usual.
