Space and Time

Did you see the Supermoon last night, Dear Reader?  I did.  It didn't look 15% bigger than when it's an apogee moon, but boy, was it ever bright!

Did you see the eclipse?  I didn't set the alarm but woke anyway.  The bedroom was considerably darker.  Checked the time - 2.30am (BST), had a look - half the moon covered.  I looked again on and off over the next hour, the sliver of silvery moon got smaller and smaller, then stopped being silvery and went white, at which point the rest of the lunar disc became kinda visible, dark grey with a paler edging.  Apparently it was a 'blood moon', it went a very dark red.  I didn't see that, and I looked. There are photo's here and explanations here.

Saturday's Dr Who proved the point that a longer story is, usually, a better story, even with the CGI, and gave more time for (very convoluted, but hey, it's Dr Who) plot, character etc development.  Clara became a Dalek, 'Missy', still up to her nefarious tricks, is still wearing that daft 'Mary Poppins'-like outfit, we discovered what happens to old Daleks (clue - sewer) and the famous sonic screwdriver was replaced by an update . . . 'wearable tech', aka a pair of snazzy sunglasses!

I sometimes wonder about Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss though, quite where they're taking the Doctor.  What's with the new title sequence?  All those clockwork cogs, numerals etc and then all the planets whizzing past.  Talk about beating the viewer over the head.  Most people watching Dr Who know that he travels through time and space, unsubtlety of that degree is totally unnecessary.

I am glad the Horror Channel is showing repeats of the Original Series - this week the Very First Story, and the First Dalek Story.  The one where he successfully kills off all the Daleks, which turned out to be a mistake as the Daleks proved extremely popular with the then audience.  Fortunately the Doctor is a time traveller, so it was possible to rearrange a few events and resurrect the monsters, thus giving the Doctor plenty of further opportunities for Dalekicide!

I've been busily knitting some socks for Niece, it's her birthday next Sunday.  I hope to have them post-ready by Thursday, here's hoping, and then it'll be the commissioned socks.  Then, maybe, it'll be time to put some serious thought, also knitting, into a sweater for H - all of which will require more yarn.  I put the latest (sock) yarn purchase into my footstool stash.  The lid is now 'floating' on yarn!  Apparently the Knitting Goddess has come up with a new project bag

Now that would be an interesting episode!

And Finally - should you be interested, a Colour Blindness test.  Apparently I'm ok, average.  Y'all have a good, and colourful, day now.  I may just be catching up with the sleep I missed watching the eclipse!
