Meteors, Rivendell, and a Delightful Box

I mentioned the Geminid meteor shower recently.  Did you go looking, Dear Reader? Have a picture anyway.  Don't think we'll be doing much astronomising round here the next couple of days.  No, not cos we're crazy busy with pre-Christmas stuff.  It's raining, and windy.  Very windy.  There's a weather warning out today - winds and rain possibly leading to flooding in places.  Merry Christmas to all those living on flood plains, near streams and rivers, close to the sea etc.  So far we've gotten away with living in the centre of the island and, while the sea may come ashore around the fringes, it still hasn't gotten here, yet.  No matter how low the atmospheric pressure or how high the tides!

Apparently you know you have arrived when you have been modeled in Lego.  Well, here's a Lego model of Rivendell, partly based on LoTR:FoTR (#1) and partly on TH:tDoS (Hobbit #2).  Have you seen either Hobbit film yet, Dear Reader?  Think I'll just dig out our (text) copy and re-read it.  I gather Peter Jackson has been filming way off JRRT's story - I mean, the dwarves leaving the wood-elves fastness in open barrels??  I ask you?

Should you be feeling in need of some Festive music, try Victor Hely-Hutchinson's Carol Symphony.  All four movements.  Should give you time to wrap a few presents, or stuff the turkey, or something.  If you have a little longer then you could try this - Episode One of the BBC's production of The Box of Delights, the one with the wolves.  If you have a few hours you could watch the whole series.  The book might be a better bet, I'm sure there are second hand copies somewhere out there.  There now, an idea for a Christmas gift.  Don't say I never give you anything, Dear Reader!

Right, that's more than enough.  Y'all have a good day now!
