Tuesday Trivia*
British inland waterways are in good shape, even in urban areas,
according to the National Waterway Wildlife Survey. The shopping trolley patrols may be winning! Which is great news for the kingfishers, etc. Also for those who like to walk along towpaths. It's nice to hear a positive wildlife story in this crowded land of ours.
Not quite so wild life -
a rabbit has adopted some kittens. Or maybe the kittens hijacked the rabbit. Cue Lolcat moment!
Meanwhile most sensible wildlife is heading for somewhere sheltered & switching to hibernation mode. Having said which, the wind veered some time Saturday & it's been warmer, & raining, since. Torrentially on Sunday, sporadically yesterday - I actually got some washing dried, & on & off today. Apparently the wind is due to veer again nearing the weekend. Which could be a Good Thing. At this time of year we have mainly three kinds of weather: sou'westerly winds & downpours; dank, thick clouds-nailed-to-the-chimneys & dark; or clear, crisp & chilly.
Very rarely does it snow this far south. We've pictures of S out in our yard with snowmen we've made - in a hurry cos we knew the snow wouldn't be there long. S was around three at the time, the snowman barely came above his knees! Don't remember if it's snowed sufficiently to make even such a snow midget since, but then this is inner city, surrounded by sea, sheltered from the north by a huge chalk hill. So one expects it to be warmer. Go up over the hill & it can get really chilly!
And yesterday
the Queen & Prince Philip celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary, as did a few others who married on the same day - that's 60 years. Which isn't trivial at all. Congratulations to them all. Gosh, we've not notched up even
half that time!
Which will do for today. H has finally got some time off work - maybe we can start making a few inroads on the piles of paper in this house, not to mention the dust.
Y'all have a good day now!
*You want serious - go read a News website! Though improvements for wildlife isn't really trivial.
