Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas to all my Readers.

Also Happy Chanuka (albeit belated), or Solsitce (again belated) but mainly Merry Christmas.  I'll save The Real X - man til later.

Apparently the Greengrocer's Apostrophe has struck again, majorly.  For those who don't know, the Greengrocer's Apostrophe is the little punctuation mark which turns up totally misplaced in notices advertising such things as:
Tomato's (or tomatoe's), Strawberrie's, cabbage's, etc in the windows (or window's) of Greengrocers' shops (or shop's) and on market stalls - where it often advertises the prices of Obo's (aubergines)!

Either way the Greengrocer's Apostrophe, which is well known & documented (See Gowers, "The Complete Plain English", also Lynn Truss "Eats, Shoots & Leaves", or even Terry Pratchett's "Going Postal"), has infected other emporia, even the great M&S!!!!  I haven't been in M&S recently, & have long had no reason to purchase children's pyjamas, or I might have noticed.  For that matter, H - who would have noticed if he'd seen it, was in last Friday, but was only there for the Luxury Christmas Pudd & Corvoisier cream (I'll tell you tomorrow), childrenswear is upstairs.  I dunno!

Meanwhile Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor has pointed out that England (I reckon Britain too) has cut itself off from "Humanity's traditions"  & is therefore a worse place.  You know what, I think he may well be right.

Finally - why are you reading this at all?  It's Christmas Day, & Stephen Tomkins has said it all so much better - even if a BBC Gremlin got in near the end!

One Christmas wish? World Peace - & I mean Peace, which is soooo much more than merely an absence of fighting.

OK, one more - would LJ PLEASE fix their 'autosave' thing so it doesn't blank the screen each time it cuts in!

Y'all have a good Christmas Day now!
