Remembering

Regular readers may have realised that I am a bit of a pacifist.  Well, how can you treat people as people if you're going in with tanks, guns, bombs etc.   & what about the people who have to try & live throught all that, then rebuild their lives & countries because they live there.  They can't get shipped home - whether in boxes, on stretchers or their own two boots - because they had the misfortune to live in a war zone.  Heck, how can one do development work if there's a war on.  What's the use of building clinics, schools etc if they're just going to get bombed?  For that matter, how are children going to learn anything, besides war, if the are forced to join armies & fight - that's children as young as 8.

Then there are the 'survivors' - those who've gone in fighting for their country, & have now been demobbed, & who have to live for the rest of their lives with their memories etc.   LINK - go on, click & read.

I hear that the UN is debating whether to make warring factions responsible for clearing up landmines & cluster bombs after wars.  Hope they do.  For that matter I hope they also ban the production & marketing of such weapons.

So I'll be "Remembering" today, & praying for peace.
