Wow. I just watched Star Wars; Revenge of the Sith. Or is it Return? I get the titles mixed up. Either way, it's the third one.
But anyway, I hadn't seen it in years because we originally had them all on video, but for some reason I didn't understand, they were the only videos we owned, everything else was dvd, but that was until about 3 years ago when our video player chewed up A New Hope. I have since bought the older 3 on dvd, but we only got the newer triology for Christmas. But, getting to the point...
I'd forgotten how utterly DEPRESSING that film is. Especially when Anakin kills all those little jedis. It put me on a right downer. Time to watch Love Actually to raise spirits again methinks.
Although maybe that would be too many films for one day. I saw St Trinians 2 earlier, which was nothing special, but it was very light hearted and actually quite good. Teninch was slightly too grey, and Colin Firth slightly too round for my liking, but I still adore both.
I did meet a baby today though. Me & Megan went to go see her 2 week old cousin on the way back from the cinema. That little girl is cute.
In keeping with my school target to "read more" (this was a target later replaced by my form teacher with "Hand in all coursework on time to a high standard", as "read more" was not deemed a 'reflection of what I am capable of achieving', but I have changed it back again as most of my coursework was due in months ago, and I still haven't started the vast majority of it) I have given myself the New Years resolution of Read 50 Books.
I do generally read quite a lot, but most of it is non-fiction. I am struggling to think of one novel, which wasn't set by my English teacher, which I've read this year. I've read many instruction manuals, television magazines, college prospectuses, and general educational books, but nothing fictional. I read an autobiography at one point, but there's a chance that was last year. But yes, generally I don't read things which aren't rooted in facts or history. Which is a bit hypocritical because I love fantasy tv programmes and films, and the fanfiction they spawn.
So anyway, I've made a few rules. Partly to restrain myself from slacking, and partly because I just enjoy making rules, even if I'm the only person who abides by them.
1) The book must be over 150 pages.
2) The book must have a storytelling element to it. This means it can be non-fiction, as long as it is not strictly informative.
3) Maximum of 8 autobiographies.
4) No more than 6 "teenage books"- ie; the princess diaries, angus thongs & perfect snogging. Luckily I rarely read these anyway, but they could be seen as an easy option when I have 48 books left to read in December.
5) Maximum of 25 can have been written in the 21st century. Maximum of 40 in the 20th & 21st.
6) No Re-reading.
7) If reading a series, no more than 3 from any one series count towards the 50. Otherwise I might end up reading all the Star Wars books the guy who sits next to me in German's been trying to sell me for months.
8) No more than 5 books by one author count towards the total, and a minimum of 25 authors.
I think that's all, I'm just writing it here to formalise it really.
Just one more thing...
Happy New Year :)
